When and How to Consume Ginseng
Ginseng can be taken at any time of the day. However, many people prefer to take it on an empty stomach – early in the morning and late at night before going to bed.
The suggested dose for Korean ginseng is 200-600 mg of liquid extract daily (one or two small cups) or two capsules twice daily. If you are healthy and are using ginseng to maintain general well-being, take ginseng at the recommended dosage in cycles. For example, take 200 to 600 mg liquid extract daily (or two capsules twice daily) for 15 to 20 days, followed by two weeks without taking ginseng. Then resume consumption.
When recovering from an illness or surgery, it is recommended to take 500 mg ginseng extract (two cups) twice a day for three months, followed by a one month break.
Once a year, a course of at least one to three months of regular consumption is recommended for optimum health.
Please note: Do not use boiling water when preparing ginseng tea. Boiling water may reduce the effectiveness of ginseng. Water, hot enough to drink, is all that is needed, as ginseng needs no drawing.
